Not for the Queasy

We knew he was not doing well and acting a little "off", but before we could get him home Saturday night, Daniel had his first projectile vomit incident all over Grandma Stewart. It's kind of weird to watch your child do this from across the room after hearing so many other parents describe how bizarre it can be. If I was a 14 year old boy, I would still be giggling about it.

Anyway, we survived getting home and a lot of fussing yesterday, and we were pretty sure Daniel still has another ear infection going on. So, this morning I've made another trip to the doctor to confirm this and to my favorite pharmacy Walgreens (oh, and I got to go there Saturday night also to buy Pedialyte! Walgreens is a happening place at 10pm on a Saturday night). Have I mentioned we are going to have a new Walgreens right in the middle of our neighborhood and oh, how convienent this will be?

Hp Madness

Do they test computers at all? Sort of like turning a car on before it leaves the factory? You would think....

Dave drilled the hole through the wall, connected all cords, and nothing.... our new computer gets no signal from the cable connection. We suspect the tuner hardware is a dud. So Dave got to spend two hours on the phone with HP trying to re-install everything under the sun, and then finally they conceded and we have a new tuner hardware piece on its way to us as of midnight last night.

And I had actually found a movie I wanted to tape tonight, so I guess it will have a wait a few more days....

First Father's Day

Poor Dave. For his first Father's Day, he had to share the day with our wedding anniversary. He said he didn't mind, but we also already had tickets to Peter Pan on Saturday and I know that wasn't his first choice for a date. He made the best of it and we had a fun date with dinner at Macaroni Grill and some shopping for him. His gift was a print from a Pennsylvania artist Richard Bollinger. I'll try to post a picture of it later.
Daniel says, "My daddy is the best!!"

Two are better than one

We have two computers running right now, because we received our new Media PC this week! I have not begun the great data migration effort yet. We still need to hook up the new PC to our TV to be able to have the TV use the DVR, music and pictures from the PC. It's going to be very handy. This will involve drilling a hole in the wall between our office and the living room, so I will be letting the architect manage that job. Somehow I think the job estimate might include a new TV, but it hasn't come in for my review yet.
Now if I could just figure out if there is anything on TV I actually want to record....

Move # 8

I am moving again today at work. Now I will share an office with another part time employee since we work on alternate days this summer. I now have a lovely window view of downtown Nashville. It's really nice. I've never had a window in the last six years in this building. I had our AA stick my name on the wall this time so it feels permanent. But alas, at the end of summer, the part time person will be back to M-W and I'll probably be on the move again...

Normal life

Not too much going on this week because, oddly enough, life seems to be normal. Dave was in town all week and says he thinks he will be here all next week. What??? I'm not sure what to do about this. We're trying to see how long we can go without watching tv at night, because there is absolutely NOTHING on. Last night we broke down and watched a taped Law & Order. We might have to join Netflix for the summer if this boredom keeps up.

Even though we are still in childcare crisis mode (my summer babysitter ended up having emergency surgery and can't lift anything until late June), my backup childcare stepped in again this past week, and I have another teenager lined up to start next week.

Daniel made his second trip to the pool yesterday and we had the baby pool to ourselves because of rain clouds. Oh, an hour of splashing bliss, and he slept very well last night.

Today we are headed to the HCA picnic (we are going just because they are serving Famous Dave's for lunch), a short visit with PaPa and Grammy and possibly Great Grandma Thelma, and then to the airport to welcome home some friends from China with their new adopted daughter!

Oddly enough, I'm 1/2 through Bill Clinton's "My Life" on cd. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. It's actually a little interesting to relive history through his perspective (even though I don't agree with it). scary.

Neighborhood Watch, Part 2

Knock on the door at 7:15 am this morning, it's the neighbor Eva from our used parking lot next door.

Eva: Is this car yours? (points to a silver car parked between my mailbox and her driveway)
Me: Never seen it before, I thought it was yours.
Eva: I can't get out of my driveway, it's in the way. I know you sometimes have guests.....
Me: No guests here. I hope I get my mail today. (Thinking: Why don't you ask one of the ten people who live in your house if they have a guest hidden in there?)
Eva: ok, bye-bye. Cute baby.

Dave (later): It's pretty bad that now they can't even keep track of their own cars because there are so many...

Beth Moore, VERY LIVE

This past weekend we made a trip up to Indianapolis to see Dave's brother's family. The main purpose of the trip was for the girls to attend a Beth Moore conference at the RCA dome. We found out on Friday evening on our way there, that thanks to a great friend on her worship team, we had seats reserved on the front row. It changes the entire experience to attend an event with 17,000 women and be on the front row. It's so much more personal and there are no distractions. It was WOW.

We kept pinching ourselves once we got there and things got started. Then we almost fell over when Beth Moore was escorted out to a spot next to me (with two empty seats between us). No, we didn't speak to her and there wasn't a chance since it was during the worship music. Beth does have a tendency to walk around in the audience while she is speaking, so she walked toward us several times during the weekend. She even asked Tara a question- good thing she knew the answer because I couldn't quite think of it. We kept wondering if she was wondering who we were, because she seemed to know a lot of the other VIPS on the front two rows.

Anyway, it was a great experience and a fun weekend. Daniel did great on the trip but was so happy to be home with his toys and in his own bed last night. It's so weird that now we can even tell he recognizes the difference. Today is our re-adjustment day : )

Red County

The county we live in is the 11th wealthiest in the US (not thanks to us, we are dragging that statistic down). It's also VERY Republican. Further evidenced by my trip to the Brentwood library today to check out books on cd. The place looks like a country club house, and I'm not kidding. Not too much left on the shelf, but I did have my choice of two Jimmy Carter books, Hillary Clinton's book, and Bill Clinton's book. Not a GWB type biography in sight (unless you count Ann Coulter, but I'm not ready to say I'm a fan of hers). I choose Bill, out of curiousity more than anything else, along with a few other selections. It is read by the author, so that actually makes it less appealing to me.

9 months and counting....

Today was the best well doctor visit so far- no shots at 9 months!

Daniel is 20lbs, 1 oz (75%)
He is 29-1/2" tall (97%)
I know he was only 28" last month so he has grown 1-1/2" practically overnight.

He also has an ear infection so I was able to pay my weekly visit to Walgreens this afternoon. I was really missing that place....

Tick Tock

The van is back in our possession!

Trickett service scores higher than Crest, they even managed to look at the parking sensors and provide a complete explanation of items still on order, eta and how much time it will take to fix once they are in stock.

Note to self after conversation with body shop manager today: Do not have a flat tire more than 125 miles from a major city, or tire may not be available to be replaced (authorized Michelin dealer and special training required). Technology of the run flat tire is not widespread yet. uh oh.
