Out-Wit, Out-Last, but will not be Out-Taxed!
Remember Richard Hatch, the first winner on the tv show Survivor, who is now being sued by the IRS for not reporting the $1 million income on his tax return? Apparently his defense is his accountant prepared two returns for him, one with the $1 million and one without. Richard chose to file the return without the $1 million income on it. How did he get his accountant to do this?
"It was just for analysis," said Wallis, a key witness for the prosecution in Hatch's federal tax evasion trial. She said she took her name off the sample return and had Hatch sign a letter from her stating, "This return is not intended to be filed and is simply for your information."
Tax CPA Kerry Kerstetter says, "This should be a warning to all of us practitioners not to ever do that, especially for someone who has been on national TV, where he won a prize for being the most devious and conniving."

I heard on the "news" this morning that he is now saying the producers/powers-that-be promised to pay his taxes if he won the million dollars. His story goes a little something like this:
Apparently, he discovered some cheating going on whereas some of the other contestants were befriending the behind-the-scenes folks and they, in turn, were giving them food (candy, power bars and such). When Hatch approached the aforementioned powers-that-be with his shock and outrage, they bought his silence with the promise to pay his taxes if he won the cool mil.
So there you have it. I heard it on radio news, so it must be true.

What an unintelligent person!
I still get the chills when I think of seeing him nude on Survivor. At least we all know where's he's NOT hiding the money...
Yeah, but the REALLY chilling thing is wondering where he IS hiding it...
