It's almost our favorite time of year again....

There's major building action going in at the house behind us. Tonight I had a conversation with deer killer's 7 year old son about it:

Me: What is your dad building?
Deer Killer's Son: He's making a deer stand, one for him and one for a friend. You know, for when he shoots deer.
Me: Of course! What else is he going to build?
Deer Killer's Son: Well, he could have built a birdhouse!

Exactly what I was thinking.

It's a BOY

After 10 years of buying Princess and American Girl gifts for our four nieces (which we have enjoyed tremendously), we finally have welcomed our first nephew to the world! Noah Charles Denny was born on Monday evening and will reside here in Nashville near his new playmates Daniel and Wesley. We hope we have permission to post his photo here- we'll check with his parents after they recover from getting him home today.

How cute is this little guy!

This is too cute- from 30+ years ago:

Facebook

I have figured out how to publish the blog on Facebook in case you are interested. Please join and be my "friend". It took me awhile to figure out how the darn thing works, but I read an article on Facebook in Newsweek last night and now I have a pretty cool page with an aquarium and a blog. I just bought an octupus for my aquarium this morning.

Now I just need to search for my long lost buddies who might be out there in Facebook world.

Grammy and I took the boys to a local train store today where there was a storytime about Thomas and lots of playtime afterwards. Daniel loved it and he especially loved the part where Grammy bought him a train.

Wesley has gone from crawling to pulling up almost immediately. Last night after I thought he was asleep, I went in because he was crying and he was standing up holding onto his crib. Aghhhh!! He is going to be an early walker and we are in for it!!

It's HOT!!

I have made minimal plans to leave the house this week, and I just ran all of my errands this morning while my friend watched the kids. So I get home and discover I'm almost out of milk. Great. My mom is coming over here later so maybe I will just run out tonight with one kid. I've already been to Publix 3 times since Saturday. It's just one of those weeks.

I've already chickened out and decided I do need Mother's Day Out, but I'm just going to do one day with both kids. It was getting pretty much impossible to track down a reliable daytime babysitter. I also think I was in denial about needing a break from my kids after being alone with them for 12-13 hours every day all summer. More power to you if you never need any alone time, but I only get a second parent for a 1 or 1-1/2 hours at night and on weekends I would rather be with family then out running errands.

I joined Facebook because someone invited me and out of curiousity. I have 13 friends so far. I'm not sure how, but they found me. Dave's cousin, who just graduated college in May has by far the most extensive Facebook page I've seen, complete with video clips and trip planner, very impressive. Perhaps I can figure out a way to post my blog there also, if so, I will let you know and you can join Facebook too (I need more friends so I don't look like a loser).

New and Exciting

I don't know if I'm more excited that the new season of "Sesame Street" is starting on Monday or there is going to be a "Sex and the City" movie next year.

Sesame Street is going to have Rachael Ray, James Blunt, Anderson Cooper and more. I love their guest appearances and their spoofs (like last year's "Law and Order" skit). This year they are going to do a "RSI" - Rhyme Scene Investigation- spoof. And doesn't everyone want to know what happened with Carrie and Mr. Big after Paris??

Updates- on Crawling and Playing

Heard from Daniel last night at dinner after Dave called to say he would be late (again, and we could solve a lot of our problem if Franklin would finish paving the last 500 feet of Cool Springs Blvd):

"Daddy is stuck in traffic? I go help him!"

We had to send James the train on a little vacation due to a certain China-related recall, and I have been most impressed with the RC2 company- so far we have gotten an email update, a free train in the mail, and will soon receive a new James and a check for postage. The free train- actually it's a tow truck named "Butch" was quite a hit today. This was after I bought Daniel a whole bucket of Diego foam stickers that were on clearance at Michaels. You would think it's his birthday or something (which he asks if it is his birthday every day, since he knows it's coming soon).

Wesley started officially crawling this week and he is everywhere! I can't believe how much this has changed dynamics of play in just a few days. He wants to play with everything. We are now beginning the "referee" stage of parenting.

We are sad school is starting on Monday because we have really enjoyed using our next door neighbor as a babysitter during the day. I will be looking for a homeschool girl or college student who is available during the day so I can get my haircut and go to appointments without kids once in awhile. We have decided to not do Mother's Day Out or Preschool this year so will we just be able to hang out and have fun. I might go crazy, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

The Fair

Last night we went to the Williamson County Fair. Dave had volunteered to hand out Bibles at the Gideon booth for a couple of hours. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to park close to the fair, the building was air conditioned, and there were lots of things to see and do. I had plenty of time to kill so we walked around and then ended up at the bouncy area. Daniel has had a little fear of the big bouncy playthings, but he is always curious about them. We were able to try them out and Daniel actually went down a slide a few times and we paid our fee to be able to play. After a few times, Daniel went down a slide that was a little too big for him and there were some tears and fear. We took a break, ate some dinner and returned later and he had a blast. I've never seen him have so much fun! Wesley helped hand out Bibles so I could focus on Daniel's playtime.

Our other big hit of the night (with the adults) was the Purity frozen cheesecake on a stick, dipped in chocolate. I don't know who thought that up, but it was heavenly.
